Obstacles in Building Self Confidence


Do you know what’s holding your self confidence back?


Sometimes we know what the obstacles are. Other times we don’t. Let’s have a look at what could be the reasons that you're not moving ahead like you want. Answer these questions…

Are You Undisciplined?

Some people simply have the talent to waste a lot of time without realizing it. They lack the self-discipline to stop their actions that waste time. Imagine you have a list of tasks to be completed for your personal development such as working out of reading. Your plan is to do them when you get home. However, the moment you enter your home you grab the remote and start channel surfing. It’s only after an hour that you realize that you have been vegging out in front of the T.V in the time you had scheduled to do other tasks. In a self development program, it’s you and only you who has the power to change yourself. Nobody will come to monitor your actions and progress. You have to keep a watch on your inner graph and see to it that it goes up! Avoid temptations and stick to your schedule.

Are You Lazy And keep Procrastinating?

Procrastination is one of the greatest killers of confidence. You put off and put off until you’re at the point where you are overwhelmed by the many things that have piled up and now must have your attention. The very basics of building confidence start with listing little things that are achievable. As you successfully complete them, you gain more confidence to take on greater tasks and responsibilities. delaying important things till they become urgent makes you less confident because you're working in a state of stress, with less time and the fear of failing. To avoid procrastination do one of two things:


1. Tackle small doable task first to give you small successes along the way and builds your confidence incrementally or...


2. Eat the Frog. Term by Mark Twain that means if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.” Once you get that big one done. The rest is easy.

Does Your Old Self Keep Pulling You Back?

If the answer is yes, Assume the role of the self you want. Assume that you are a different person with habits you want to encourage. Imagine the way you would like to be. Imagine a self confident you. Then try to bring into your daily actions the way you have imagined yourself to be. "I dream by painting. Then I paint my dream" was the technique that the great painter Vincent Van Gogh followed. Your assumed self will make people react to you in the way you prefer. This will establish the new imagend you to the world and will soon become …. Simply who you are.

Are you trying be like someone else?

One of the greatest mistakes that people make when trying to increase confidence is trying to be just like their favorite icon. You’ve heard the saying, be you, everyone else is taken. Apply that saying here. Instead of trying to be a carbon copy of someone else, use them as inspiration and motivation. Find out how to add your own twist on things.

After all - no one can do you better than you. When you realize and appreciate your uniqueness your confidence will grow and grow.
