That’s a very sobering statement considering that the Dept. of Agriculture claims that 49 million Americans struggle to put food on the table. America is unquestionably “the land of plenty”, unfortunately when it comes to food we are “the land of plenty of the wrong kind”. Fast food has become a staple diet for many. How many of us love to go to the all-you-can-eat buffet or fall prey to the “supersize it for just a buck more” gimmick at most fast food joints.

-37% of all adults are obese
-obesity related conditions include heart disease, stroke, insulin resistance, type II diabetes and
certain types of cancer
-on average medical spending for obese people is $1429.00 more per year than for normal
-most alarming: since 1980, obesity among children and adolescents has almost tripled
